Hey I’m Lou, the wannabe wanderer turned nail artist behind Wanderlust Nails by Lou, where every set is crafted with a little magic, a lot of personality, and a streak of beautiful chaos.
Having spent best part of 18 years in public service roles, pouring my heart into supporting families and raising my own beautiful family, I realised it was finally time to spread my wings, chase the dream I'd held onto since my teenage years, and build something that felt truly mine.
I'm a super proud Mum, Nana, travel lover, family memory keeper, and creative soul who believes beauty should never come with pressure.
My love of family, individuality, and self expression runs through everything I do, and you'll often find me inspired by family treasures, meaningful memories, and the stories that make each of us unique.
Based in Spencers Wood, Reading, my studio is a tiny escape from the ordinary. Step inside and you'll find a cosy retreat where colours shimmer like sunsets, and even the simplest set has a story to tell. I strive to achieve flawless prep, beautiful nail health, bold artistry, and creating designs that feel as individual as the people wearing them.
Creating a welcoming space is just as important to me as creating beautiful nails, I'm spectrum friendly having successfully navigated the whirlwind of childhood, teenage tantrums and into adulthood with my own 3 children each with individual needs and understand that everyone experiences the world differently. I get the wonderfully complicated world of wanting all the cute charms but not loving how they feel, needing silence one day and conversation the next, or simply wanting a space where you don't have to explain yourself. If you'd like to chat throughout your appointment, I'd love to get to know you. If you'd rather pop your headphones on, listen to your favourite playlist, watch a bit of mind numbing TV, or simply enjoy the quiet, that's completely fine too. This is your time, and I'll always follow your lead.
As a home salon, life will continue quietly in the background, but your appointment is protected time. If you need to shut the world away for a little while, we can absolutely do that. I have dogs and cats, but while you might hear the occasional bark or meow, they won't be anywhere near you during your appointment. Whether you're craving soft, mystical energy, elegant everyday nails, or full on untamed goddess vibes, I bring your vision to life with passion, creativity, and a sprinkle of wanderlust mischief. Specialising in Gel X, BIAB, unique nail art, Junk nails and custom designs, I live by the mantra that life's too short for boring nails.
